Mitchell Askelson is what we might refer to around here as the "perfect minitrucker."

He's highly dedicated, loves minitrucks and the scene, but more importantly, he's matured to the level of realization that trophies are just plastic and what this scene is about are the FRIENDSHIPS that last a lifetime. He's in it for all the right reasons, and knowing that, you couldn't ask for a better guy to have as a friend. Which gives us great joy to run such an amazingly clean Toyota in our pages for the world to see.

Mitchell purchased this 1992 Toyota pickup in 2005 with only 47,000 original miles. He knew he had to have it for a future project, and as soon as he was ready to get started he dove in head first. Even though Mitchell lives in Florida, he came across Chase from Real Life Kustoms in Georgia and the two instantly hit it off. It didn't take much before Chase had Mitchell's 'Yota completely stripped for a ground-up build. The two knew that this Toy was destined for pavement, so a full air system and a 3-1/2-inch bodydrop were added to the to-do list.

Over the course of the next two years, Mitchell and Chase's friendship grew as did the mods being done to the Toyota pickup. Fortunately, Mitchell was in good hands with the Real Life Kustoms crew. His Toyota drove in completely stock and before he knew it, Mitchell was cruisin' the truck of his dreams. Chase being skilled at both suspension and body fab gave him the ability to completely transform Mitchell's 'Yota into the custom creation you see before you. The goal of staying simple and clean never faltered. A smooth-as-glass exterior, bright red paintjob, and slammed stance over a set of 18-inch billets make for a truly killer combo to fear on the show fields. With Chase finishing up the custom duties all that was left was to wrap the interior. Mitchell came across Dale at Xhibit Upholstery who worked out a clean and classy interior to match the look and feel Mitchell was going for with the rest of his truck. That literally wrapped up the build, and at Mitchell's first show he was all smiles! Even though he is definitely not in it to win trophies, nobody said he doesn't like the acknowledgement of a job well done. Everyone enjoys a nod, handshake, and knowing that other people like your truck as much as you do.

Even though Mitchell named his truck "The Fear," don't let that fool you; he is as nice as they come. If you ever get a chance to check out his truck in person, make sure to have a chat with Mitchell and you will see what we mean. For more details on all the mods, check out The Lowdown.
